FOR ALL FRESHMEN, YOUR FIRST QUARTER DEFICIENCY TO EFFICIENCY SHALL BE GRAMMAR WORK. HAVE A SECTION IN YOUR PORTFOLIO JUST FOR THIS. GO TO QUARTER 2 AND CLICK ON SOME GRAMMAR SITES TO GET YOU STARTED, THEN FIND SOME THAT PERSONALLY WORK FOR YOU
Keep LOOSE-LEAF PAPER in your portfolio for class journal writing.
I RECOMMEND TO YOU THAT YOU EMAIL ME AN EXTRA ESSAY ONCE PER MONTH SO I CAN GIVE YOU MORE INTENSE FEEDBACK ON YOUR WRITING. BE INDEPENDENT AND TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO DO SO. I WILL GLADLY READ ANY WORK YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO.
Additionally, I try and set aside Mondays after school for you to come and bring some writing in to me. "Portfolio Mondays" are a chance to write, talk about writing, or maybe just come into 218 to hang out and bring me some food. :)

Stay away from ordinary, unoriginal thinking and writing. It's why I dislike expressions like "no worries" and other mainstream things. Push yourself to develop things that are new and YOU. Don't look around and then just provide something that is nothing more than a hybrid/offspring of someone else's brainchild. Pave your own path.
Once you have read the portfolio overview, the following bold color links will guide you as we utilize the portfolio throughout the year: If you are interested in how you will be graded on the portfolio, read a narrative rubric and then pay particular attention to your ASSESSMENT PROPOSAL which you need to fill out before every interview. CAN'T OPEN SOME OF THESE LINKS? EMAIL A FRIEND AND HAVE HIM/HER EMAIL IT TO YOU! DO NOT TELL ME YOU CAN'T OR ASK ME TO DO THIS FOR YOU. IT'S "PROBLEM SOLVING 101"
